An Apple A Day // Fall Mini Sessions

I love fall mini sessions. If Christmas was in the fall it would be my favourite season ever but because Christmas is in the winter, I’m torn. Anyway, I love hosting fall mini sessions especially because here in Ontario we have (in my totally unbiased opinions) THE best orchards ever. If you don’t believe me just take a look below!

I am new to the area of Kitchener-Waterloo so it made sense to host some mini session for my first fall as a photographer here! I had so much fun with these families, my face hurt from laughing and smiling so much! I can’t wait to do them again next year!

I was able to shoot at Martin’s Family Farm and it was the perfect locations for fall pictures. As much as I love the changing leaves, nothing screams fall to me like an apple orchard. How awesome are those red apples on these trees? It was absolutely perfect. It was a chilly day sometimes sunny, sometimes cloudy but it all worked out so well.

After such a successful season and a lot of happy families, I can’t wait to have these mini sessions again next year!

One Year // Jonathan + Kim

You know what I love to see? Young love. I have a special spot in my heart for young couples because I was married young! My brother-in-law and his girlfriend have been together for just over a year and they are so perfect for each other, I love seeing them both so happy and working well together!

When I was up in Whitby visiting family we decided to do a little impromptu photoshoot in the backyard! Jonathan wants to get better in front of the camera so I promised we would do a little shoot with them! It was so much fun! I love watching watching people warm up in front of the camera. As we were taking pictures they both became more comfortable and started working really well with me and with each other!

It’s a hard thing to do, being vulnerable in front of the camera and just trying to be yourself, as a photographer I try to make my people feel like they can be themselves and that that is what makes a great photo! So cheers to young love and impromptu photoshoots!

Cozy Couple in Love // Danny & Jeannette

This wonderful couple book a shoot with me after they were given gift certificate (which I do offer by the way, in case you’re already thinking about Christmas gifts already… I may or may not be half way done!). Anyway, they wanted to do it at their house to keep it intimate and simple! I love sessions like this because people tend to me more comfortable in their own homes.

I love working with couples. Either engagement shoots or just because you are in love, they are so much fun. I love getting to work one on one with them, they just laughed together and loved each other and it was beautiful!

And just remember that you don’t have to be engaged to have pictures! even after our kids have moved out and it’s just me and W, (t-minus sixteen years!!!) I still plan on having our pictures taken every year!

Love at the Harbour // Becca and Phil

Whether you just got engaged or you’ve been married for a year or ten, it is always a good time to have pictures with the love of your life! I love these couple shoots because they are so much like engagement pictures, which are typically a lot of fun and super easy! Add a cute doggie in the mix and you’ve got yourself an adorable family.

Phil and Becca knew they wanted some pictures at the harbour as a change from some of the more common field, forest, and “green” backdrops. I love the way the boats added depth and the water was just perfect!

I love finding new places to explore so that I always have a handy list of locations for any photography inquiry. Since moving to Kitchener-Waterloo I have start exploring just a little bit but now that the busy summer is over I plan on hitting some awesome locations, stay tuned for a post all about it!

A Grenada Love Story // Bryce & Marisol

When we were living on the small island of Grenada in the West Indies we had some very good friends come and visit us! Now they were already married but I like to think of this shoot as an engagement session. I really treat every session with just me and a couple in love like an engagement photoshoot. They are definitely some of my favourite session, especially when we are dealing with some gorgeous landscape that is the Spice Isle of the Caribbean!

We had so much fun for this session. I love a good adventure especially when it comes to photography. That’s the best part of engagement session, the adventure! The stress free time to get awesome poses and pictures. I get to be really creative and have so much fun getting to know couples! That’s why I include an engagement session in my wedding packages. I love this session and use it as an opportunity to really get to know the people I’m going to spend one of the most precious days of their lives.

I hope you enjoy this super fun, adventurous “engagement” session as much as we did doing it!
